Warm Day

Warm day last week - yesterday we had 50 mile an hour winds for the second time in about a week. There are upstart crocuses in the lawn so things look up.

Saint Patrick's Day decorations are starting to appear in Irish pubs....yes.

Tango Not In Paris

They go left and right, most of the tunes heard are solitary solely in iPods.

Inside Yawn

I posted this in my subway series blog, but it is a subway car still on the Penn Station E Train platform.

Scarves....

...were Isadora Duncan's downfall.

Track 21 and Approaching Nassau County

Worker carting pretzels at Penn and a commuter across from me. He had pretzels, she had a beer. A ying and yang diet.

The Gap

The yellow paint warns riders that they are near the edge and that there might be a gap between the platform and the train car's floor.

Morning commute, moving towards a staircase. Penn, woman, ship.

Friday on my Mind

Yesterday was a productive day - started with my playing with shots outside my LIRR train window - feeling like a year or more ago when the BB experience was new and full of discovery.

There are cycles of discovery, exploration then repetition - you need to move on and other times you need to stay put.

C Train, C Train Run, Run, Train, Run

Penn Station uptown train platform, commuter coming off C train.

The C and the E stop on my platform. The A train is on the center platform - it is an express train, making fewer stops. The closest it comes to my office is 59th Street, Columbus Circle. You can enter Central Park there.

Dreaming is Free

Waiting for a friend, waiting for a train, All the promises of a Friday night on a day when we left work the sky was a deep beautiful blue rather than black.

Super Bowl Sunday - days are getting longer - soon baseball spring training and maybe a crocus, then two then eight hundred.

Dreaming with both eyes open.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

At Penn Station they distribute free newspapers, barely thirty pages long they are more than half ads and the rest contains the shortest news articles imaginable, imagine seventy words on the current Egyptian crisis.

This commuter was getting one right next to where I had my BB. It is a darker area near a favorite tunnel to the A train token booth,

Newspapers and subway tokens - obsolete.

Rawhide

Like cattle on the old black and white TV show, "Rawhide." Clint Eastwood started his career there.

Yesterday the LIRR ran on a weekday on a weekend schedule - meaning one train an hour. They charged regular fares. When trains showed up in stations closer to the Manhattan they were already packed - you could not get in and had to wait an hour.

There had been an ice storm - I stayed home because our car was covered in a sheet of ice and it was raining so I could not use the hair drier to thaw one door.

New Monthly Pass

February 1 - need new monthly pass 0- around $250. First shot of the day gettingopff at Penn, Track 20 as I recall.

Tonight we expect an ice storm....may not be able to leave in morning
unless wearing skates.

I am not Dutch and dislike ice unless in a tumbler.
